My name is Jacob Reeves and I married my beautiful wife Danielle in 2001. We have four beautiful daughters, Rachael, Kaitlyn, Linda and Elizabeth. We purchased our 26 acre farm located in Owego, NY in 2017 and are still learning how to become farmers. I am an assistant pastor of the Heritage Baptist Church in Campville, NY, so farming is just my "full-time side gig".
Neither of us grew up on a farm, however, farming runs deep in our blood. Both my wife and I grew up listening to the farming stories our grandparents told (mostly hardships) and I think somehow that made us feel like farmers at heart. Danielle's grandfather was a dairy farmer in Brooktondale, NY and my grandfather grew up on a farm in Minnesota before he moved to East Stoudsburg, PA to manage a chicken farm and delivered eggs to New York City.
We never pursued farming but the Lord made this old farm available to our family and while we are here we want to be good stewards of the land and have some fun in the process. For our family this is an adventure. We like the idea of having "meat on the hoof" and being just a little more self sufficient. We also enjoy eating the quality food from our farm.
We started farming our small farm just to feed our family and hoped maybe to sell a few animals here and there. After many trials and errors over the past few years we started feeding our family and ending up with surplus. My daughter Kaitlyn (who takes care of the chickens) wanted to try selling some eggs by the road. To my surprise we sold out every day! We then set up a self-serve farm stand and before we knew it we were selling eggs, bacon, sausage, hamburger, steaks, honey and more.
We hope to continue to provide our neighbors and community with quality farm fresh products as long as the Lord allows.
